Provides material for approximately twenty hours of class time. Sections may be used independently for shorter presentations. $200 US.

  • Phytoestrogens: 53 slides for PC, 88 for Mac. In-depth examination of the various classes of phytoestrogens in botanicals and how they interact with human physiology. Approximately two hours of material. $100 US.

  • Phenolic Compounds: 113 slides for PC, 235 for Mac (again, same material is covered). In-depth look at the various polyphenols, flavonoids, etc. important in medicinal foods and herbs. Includes information on the antioxidant properties of these phytomolecules. Approximately three hours of material. $100 US.

  • The Chemistry of Essential Oils: 51 slides for PC, 60 for Mac. Examines the chemistry and actions of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes in the essential oils popular in aromatherapy. Approximately 1 1/2 hours of material. $100 US.

  • Herbs for the Immune System: 21 slides for PC, 25 for Mac. An hour's presentation on herbs and their constituents used to strengthen or activate the immune system. $25 US. Less technical than the other presentations.

  • Popular Herbs: 58 slides for PC, 66 for Mac. Examines the most popular herbs in Western herbal practice and their major constituents. Approximately two hours of material. Less technical than the other presentations. $50 US.

  • Searchable Outline and Structure Library: This searchable document (on CD-ROM) covers some 800 different constituents and includes line drawings of the molecular structures. It's a great companion to any of the PowerPoint shows, to use as a teacher's reference, or for study. $50 US.

Special Package: Includes all of the PowerPoint material listed above. The Chemistry of Essential Oils unit is incorporated into the main Constituents presentation but can be separated at your request. Discounted cost: $300 US ($575 if ordered separately).

The Foundations of Herbal Chemistry includes 186 slides with more than 339 separate images & animations. This presentation introduces more advanced students and practitioners to the principles of phytochemistry which are most relevant to understanding constituents in medicinal plants. Photographs and colorful 3D molecular models, accompanied by traditional line drawings, illustrate the concepts of:

1.  Phytochemical structure
2. Elements in phytochemicals
3. Phytomolecular bonding
4. Stereochemistry
5. Polarity
6. Functional groups
7. Ring systems
8. Solubility & solvents

The Foundations of Herbal Chemistry, PC or Mac: $200 US
Special: Foundations included with complete package (above): $450 - save $50

Now Available - Foundations of Herbal Chemistry PDF. A 99-page handbook for the advanced student herbalist or holistic practitioner, with detailed information covering the basic structure of phytochemicals, bonding, polarity, functional groups, rings & ring systems, isomers & stereochemistry, solubility & extraction of herbal constituents, phytochemical stability & reactivity, classification of constituents, and ending with an extensive phytochemical glossary.
